Sodium Cetearyl Sulfate is easy to dissolve in water. It is used in developers as an anionic Oil in Water emulsifier to ensure a creamy consistency.

Sodium Cocoamphoacetate cleanses the skin and hair by helping water to mix with oil and dirt so that these substances can be rinsed away. It also increases foaming capacity or stabilize foams. This ingredient enhances the appearance and feel of hair, by increasing hair body, suppleness, or sheen, or by improving the texture of hair that has been damaged physically or by chemical treatment.

Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is an ingredient derived from coconut oil and it is classified as Surfactants - Cleansing used for skin and hair-cleaning purposes and as emulsifiers in cosmetics. In this function, surfactants wet body surfaces, emulsify or solubilize oils, and suspends oil. Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is mainly used in our Hair Colorants to increase foaming for Hair wash after Color application.

Sodium Dodoxynol-40 Sulfate belongs to the group of ingredients which function as solubilizer. These are substances which aid in the dissolution of an ingredient (solute) in a medium in which it is not otherwise soluble. We mainly use it in hair Care or Styling watery leave-in products.

Sodium Hyaluronate enhances the appearance of dry or damaged skin by reducing flaking and restoring suppleness. In our products it is mainly used in Hair Care and Styling products in order to repair and rejuvenate dehydrated, damaged, and brittle hair. In addition it shows several benefits to the scalp such as replenishing its moisture barrier while reducing its moisture evaporation and promoting a firmer, plumper appearance for the hair.

Sodium Hydroxide as a pH adjuster. In hair colorants Sodium Hydroxide is used to neutralizes the main anionic emulsifying system (Ceteth-10 Phosphate and Dicetyl Phosphate) to build the structure of the cream. In some cases we use it to make dye precursors soluble in water.

Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) as an anionic surfactant, and a solvent for some ingredients. It is one of the most effective surfactants in our Shampoos to clean the skin and hair by helping water to mix with oil and dirt so that they can be rinsed away. The reason for SLES in hair colorants is to build and stabilize the emulsion. The better an emulsion is stabilized, the lower the chance to cause irritation. It also helps to dissolve dyes and it also helps to rinse the cream off of the scalp. In the case of hair colorant tints the SLES combines the waxes like Cetearyl Alcohol with the water to ensure a nicely spreadable mixture which is easy to use without dripping.

Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate is used in Hair Care products as it reduces static electricity by neutralizing electrical charge on hair's surface and due to its conditioning properties it helps to improve combability and the hair becomes soft, shiny and manageable.

Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate is mainly used as surfactant in our sulfate-free shampoo product category.Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate helps to enhance the appearance and feel of hair, by increasing hair body, suppleness or sheen, or by improving the texture of hair that has been damaged physically or by chemical treatment. Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate also serves to clean scalp and hair by mixing with oil and dirt and enabling them to be rinsed away.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is defined as surfactant. It is used to clean skin and hair and as emulsifier in cosmetics. In this function, surfactants wet body surfaces, emulsify or solubilize oils and suspend the soil. As such, they can clean the skin and hair by helping water to mix with oil and dirt so that they can be rinsed away or suspend poorly soluble ingredients in water. Therefore we use it mainly shampoo products.

Sodium Methyl Oleoyl Taurate is a sulfate-free, mild cleansing surfactant that is used next to other cleansing (aka co-surfactants) mainly as a foam booster and viscosity builder in shampoos.

Sodium Methylparaben is used in our Hair Care and Styling products as it helps to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria and mold, protecting both products and consumers.

Sodium Nitrate is used as a preservative and corrosion inhibiting ingredient in some of our Shampoos and Conditioners also because of its thickening properties. As it is also known to be soothing it can be found in scalp recovery products as well.

Sodium PCA increases the water content of the top layers of the skin by drawing moisture from the surrounding air. They also enhance the appearance and feel of hair, by increasing hair body, suppleness, or sheen, or by improving the texture of hair that has been damaged physically or by chemical treatment. Therefore we use it in some of our perm and styling products.

Sodium Persulfate is defined as oxidizing substance and belongs to a class of chemicals which gain electrons during their reaction with a reducing. In cosmetics, oxidizing s are used to destroy the natural pigment, melanin (i.e. effect bleaching), restore the normal oxidized state of hair or skin after exposure to a reducing (i.e. during permanent waving), and to form dyestuffs during oxidative hair colorants application. The substance is mainly used in our Hair Colorants and Bleaching applications as it helps to decolorize or lighten hair by oxidizing the colors present in the hair shaft.

Sodium Polyacrylate is mainly used as Absorbent, Emulsion Stabilizer and Viscosity Adjuster. It keeps the texture of a product soft and supple while contributing to the smooth, glossy appearance of the products. It also improves the consistency of a product, which enables an even distribution on hair. Once the product is applied, the polymers deposit onto the surface of the hair and cause adjacent strands to be attracted to one another through capillary forces.In skin care and cosmetics it used because it creates a thin flexible film that gives a smooth feeling on the skin after it has been washed. It is also used in exfoliating products to make strong scrubbing materials more gentle.

Sodium Silicate is defined as pH Buffer and belongs to a group of chemicals commonly called buffers. These chemicals have the property of maintaining the pH of an aqueous medium in a narrow range even if small amounts of acids or bases are added. Sodium Silicate is used to adjust the pH of a formulation to ensure a product's pH is stable over time for product stability and consumer safety. In addition it acts as corrosion inhibitor which are substances added to products in order to prevent the corrosion of metallic (and occasionally other) materials used for cosmetic packaging.

Sodium Stearate belongs to the Stearate salts which are generally used for their lubricating properties. They also help to keep emulsions from separating into their oil and liquid components wherefore we use it mainly in Hair Colorants. The Stearate salts increase the thickness of the lipid (oil) portion of cosmetics and personal care products and reduce the clear or transparent appearance of finished products.

Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate is mainly used in our Hair Care and Styling products where it acts as surfactant - emulsifying. It reduces the surface tension of the water component and hence helps to enable it to be mixed with an oil component and form a stable emulsion. The efficacy of emulsifier depends on their ability to reduce surface tension, to form complex films on the surface of emulsified droplets, and to create a repulsive barrier on emulsified droplets to prevent their coalescence.

Sodium Sulfite is an antioxidant salt which prevents oxidation of dye precursors over time, and is important for maintaining shelf life.

Sodium Xylenesulfonate is defined as surfactant. These are surfactants which have the ability to enhance the water solubility of another surfactant and hence help to remove dirt from the skin and hair. Prominent members of this group are short chain alkyl aryl sulfonates, sulfosuccinates, and some nonionic surfactants. As it also has viscosity decreasing properties, we use it mainly in our Shampoos to adjust the consistency to the desired level for easy application and spreadability.

Sorbic Acid as preservative prevents or retards microbial growth and thus protect cosmetic products from spoilage. Cosmetic products may support the growth of microorganisms. The use of preservatives is required to prevent product damage caused by microorganisms and to protect the product from inadvertent contamination by the consumer during use. The use of more than one preservative can sometimes increase efficacy due to synergism. Sorbic acid is a preservative that is used in a variety of cosmetics and personal care products in order to extend the shelf-life by preventing microbial contamination.

Sorbitan Laurate is an ingredient of a liquid dispersion polymer which acts as a rheology modifier, stabilizing, emulsifying and texturizer. In this mixture it mainly functions as emulsifier as it reduces the surface tension of the water component and helps to mix it with the oil component for form a stable emulsion for a optimized product performance, easy application and good spreadability.

Sorbitan Stearate helps to form emulsions by reducing the surface tension of the substances to be emulsified and they help other ingredients to dissolve in a solvent in which they would not normally dissolve. It also cleans the skin and hair by helping water to mix with oil and dirt so that they can be rinsed away.

Sorbitol is used as a humectant as it attracts and retains the moisture in the air nearby via absorption, drawing the water vapor into or beneath the surface. Due to this property, we use Sorbitol in our Haircare and Styling products as well as in Perm applications and Hair Colorants. It helps to moisturize the hair and reduce the water loss, which improves the hair feel and manageability.

Squalane is defined as hair conditioner. These are ingredients used to create special effects on hair. This group includes materials which enhance the appearance and feel of hair, increase hair body or suppleness, facilitate styling, improve gloss or sheen and improve the texture of hair, including hair that has been damaged by chemical or physical action. These desirable effects are created by the use of lubricious and/or substantive ingredients that coat or adhere to the hair. In addition it acts as skin-conditioners - occlusive - cosmetic ingredients which retard the evaporation of water from the skin surface. By blocking the evaporative loss of water, occlusive materials increase the water content of skin. The effect on the skin can also be transferred to the scalp. Occlusive ingredients are generally lipids which tend to remain on the skin surface.

Stearalkonium Chloride is capable to alter the electrical properties of cosmetic raw materials or of human body surfaces (skin, hair, etc.) by reducing their tendency to acquire an electrical charge. Antistatics are used as processing aids in the manufacture of cosmetic products and play a role in the formulation of hair products that prevent the condition commonly known as fly-away hair.

Steareth-200 is a non-ionic co-emulsifier. It is mixed with other emulsifiers, used to create the product consistency desired. In Hair colorants Steareth-200 modifies the gel network to allow a better spreadability and application of the color cream, as well as easier dispensing from the tube.

Steareth-21 as surfactant is used for skin and hair-cleaning purposes and as emulsifier and solubilizing agent in Hair Care products, Hair Colorants and Developers. It helps to keep the product stable over time and is also a "wash-out" component in Developers and Hair Colorants, means it helps to remove all residues after a Hair Color application.

Styrene/PVP Copolymer produces a continuous thin coating on skin, nails or hair where it helps to maintain it in the desired position. This property is also used in cosmetics for diverse purposes, e.g., in forming facial masks, make-up films, nail polishes, or hair styling/ holding products. In regard of the hair-holding properties the hair fixative imparts holding or style-retention properties to hair as it forms strong, light-stable films with high water resistance wherefore we use this ingredient in some of our Styling products and Conditioners.

Emollients function by their ability to remain on the skin surface or in the stratum corneum to act as lubricants, to reduce flaking, and to improve hair feel and sheen by granting flexible hold to the hair.

Synthetic Fluorphlogopite is used in some of our Hair Colorants. Here it serves as a base for multi-layered, composite pigments such as pearl effect pigments where it is coated with one or more layers of metal oxide, mostly titanium dioxide. As it also has improved light reflection which enhances the vibrancy of the hair color after application.

Synthetic Wax as an abrasive or exfoliant agent is an ingredient which is added to cosmetic products to rub away or scrape the surface layer of cells or tissue from the skin. As an Emulsion Stabilizer it provides a firmer texture to cosmetic products. While it is not a true emulsifier, it helps to stabilize emulsions by thickening the lipid (oil) portion of products and hence keep emulsions from separating into their oil and liquid components. Synthetic Wax as a Viscosity adjuster is a material used to increase or decrease the thickness of a liquid product. 

Tapioca Starch is a Film Former and therefore known to provide smoothness and manageability to hair.

Tartaric Acid and its salts are used as pH adjusters in cosmetics and personal care products. pH Adjusters are used to control the pH of finished cosmetic products.

Tetrahydroxypropyl Ethylenediamine is a chelant and it is used in cosmetics to bind metal ions to prevent unwanted metal-reactions within the formulation which could have negative effects on stability, preservation and product performance.In Colorants this helps to preserve the intended color result and product stability in case of metal ion exposure during manufacturing of the tint.
