Glyoxylic Acid

Glyoxylic Acid is mainly used in straightening products as the carboxylic and aldehyde groups of glyoxylic acid react with the amine groups present in hair keratin resulting in the formation of stable bonds. Thus provides long lasting relaxing effect of hair fibres, without causing damage to the hair and scalp irritations typical of alkaline chemical and other straightening ingredients.Glyoxylic Acid is used to adjust the pH of a formulation to ensure a product's pH is at a desired level for product stability and consumer safety.
