Potassium Persulfate is used in Bleach Powders, Bleaching Creams and hair lighteners where it helps during application to decolorize or lighten the hair by oxidizing the colors present in the hair shaft. It also accelerates the bleaching process of peroxide hair bleaches.
Potassium Phosphate is used in Shampoos and Conditioners as well as in Hair Colorants as pH Adjuster and Buffer to keep the pH stable over shelf life.
Potassium Sorbate acts as preservative. Often together with other preservatives, it prevents or retards microbial growth and thus protect cosmetic products from spoilage. Cosmetic products may support the growth of microorganisms. The use of preservatives is required to prevent product damage caused by microorganisms and to protect the product from inadvertent contamination by the consumer during use. The use of more than one preservative can sometimes increase efficacy due to synergism.
PPG-1 Trideceth-6 has thickening and stabilizing properties and therefore acts as Emulsifier. It is used in formulations like Conditioners and Masks, Hair Colorants and color protection and repair serums. It prevents the product from separating and helps to smoothen the hair and to improve hair feel.
PPG-1-PEG-9 Lauryl Glycol Ether is used as a non-ionic Oil in Water emulsifier and solubilizer. It is used to produce water and water/alcohol-based cosmetic preparations. PPG-2 Hydroxyethyl Coco/Isostearamide is used in a wide variety of personal care applications. As surfactants - cleansing agent, PPG-2 Hydroxyethyl Coco/Isostearamide is used for skin and hair-cleaning purposes. It helps to wet body surfaces, emulsify or solubilize oils, and suspend soil. It is also characteristic that surfactants are responsible for the foaming and lathering properties of cleansing products. Moreover it can also be used as solubilizer helping with the dissolution of an ingredient (solute) in a medium in which it is not otherwise soluble.
PPG-38-Buteth-37 is used in Hair products including color treatments because of its moisturizing and hair conditioning properties. It improves the spreadability of the product during application and makes the hair soft and smooth also during a color treatment. This leads to an enhanced hair feel, easy combability and increased sheen.
Propane is used as a compressed gas in aerosol propellants, like hairsprays and mousses, usually in a mix with Butane and Isobutane. Propellants are needed to expel the product through the nozzle with pressure.
Propylene Glycol (PG) and water are used as solvents in hair colorants for our dyes and PG is a good choice as it helps to keep the concentration of ingredients low, reducing waste and exposure. Additionally it helps to form the crème consistency of colorants. Propylene Glycol is also a great humectant compared to other solvents like alcohol that dry out hair and skin and reduces our use of surfactants. PG has two main benefits in our new KP ME+. 1. It solubilizes the dyes to keep them equally distributed in the color crème to ensure best possible performance on hair without causing drying out of the hair. 2. It is the main ingredient in the colorant for providing a smooth crème that is easy to spread on hair and stays where it is supposed to stay.

As antioxidant, Retinyl Palmitate helps to prevent product spoilage through deterioration caused by reaction with oxygen.
Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract acts as a natural antimicrobial which either kills or retards the growth of microbes in the products. The antioxidant action and the anti-inflammatory activity is partially attributed to the high rosmarinic acid content of these plant. It also provides support of the regulation of dandruff because of its skin-conditioning and anti-inflammatory activities.
Saccharum Officinarum (Sugarcane) Extract is used in combination with other ingredients in some of our Shampoos, Conditioners, Masks, Serums and Scalp treatments. It helps to provides effective moisturizing properties by helping the scalp to attract water and then to hold onto it. In addition it has a soothing effect on the scalp. Sometimes it is stated (mainly in skin care) that Sugarcane Extract itself also exfoliates and brightens the skin as it has a close relationship to the AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) Glycolic Acid which can be derived from it and which is the most commonly used type of AHAs. Glycolic Acid helps to remove build-up of dead skin from the surface by working from inside the skin.
